Sources informed that the police Inspectors posted in police stations across the state who have completed three years' tenure have been removed. Also, the officers who have not yet completed three years but their tenures will be completed at the time of election, have also been shifted.

Among the major postings, nine Inspectors from Howrah Police, five Inspectors from Bidhannagar Police, four from Barrackpore and Siliguri Police have been removed.

Apart from completion of tenure, postings of several police officers against whom criminal cases are pending in courts, have been changed. Adding to this, officers who were removed by the Central Election Commission (CEO) during earlier elections have also been removed. As per election criteria, the removed officers who cannot perform their duties in the general elections have been posted in non-functioning wings of the police administration which do not have any connection with the core election procedure.
