More than 10,000 devotees of ISKON from all over the world will take part in Nabadwip Mandal Parikrama, which starts from
February 28 till March 7.

Devotees have started coming to Mayapur, birth place of Sri Chaitanya.

It is believed by the followers of Gaudiya Vaishnav philosophy that sravan or hearing about Lord Krishna from senior devotees and
then performing kirtan or chanting his glories with devotees are the most important tools to progress in spiritual life.
The Sravan Utsav has begun and it will continue till February 21.

On February 22, there will be flag hoisting ceremony to mark the beginning of Gour Purnima celebrations.

For next five days Kirtan mela will take place where thousands of devotees and monks will participate. Sri Chaitanya had declared that Kalijuga Sankirtan is the only means of attaining spiritual perfection. During the parikrama, the devotees will cover 80 km stretch.

The district administration has taken elaborate steps to ensure peace during
the festival.

The roads to Mayapur from Krishnagar and Nabadwip have been repaired.

A senior official of state Tourism department said that the fair and sankirtan will be showcased this year to attract foreign devotees. He also added that Bengal is coming up fast as a destination of religious tourism.

He also branded Bengal as the gateway of Buddhist tourism and Vaisanava tourism.
