1 held with 10 kg gold worth Rs 3 crore
Darjeeling: One man was arrested and gold worth more than Rs 3 crore was seized from him. The gold was being smuggled to
Kolkata.
Based on source information, the sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence arrested one Raju Adarsh from the down Kamrup Express at New Jalpaiguri Railway station on Saturday. Adarsh was on his way to Kolkata. On frisking him, around 10 kg gold was recovered from his
possession.
The gold was divided into 56 pieces and were hidden in a special belt and in shoe soles.
The gold of Chinese origin had been smuggled into India through the Indo-Myanmar border.
From Assam the gold had been brought to Siliguri and was scheduled to be delivered in Kolkata.
Adarsh, a resident of Mukundapur, Hoogly was arrested and produced before a Siliguri court.
