1 biker killed, another injured while performing stunts in E Midnapore

Kolkata: A biker was killed and another injured while performing stunts with two motorcycles near Pashkura in East Midnapore on Sunday morning.

In a separate accident, two youths were injured when a motorcycle they were riding hit a private car from behind on Rani Rashmoni Road on Sunday evening.

In the first incident, the injured youth was taken to a nearby hospital and later shifted to SSKM Hospital as his condition deteriorated. The other one died after being taken to hospital.

Police said two youths identified as Amit Singh and Uttam Samanta were performing stunts with two motorcycles. They were running their bikes at high speed and while coming from the opposite direction, they collided in Mangaldari area of Pashkura.

Locals heard a loud thud and rushed to the spot. They found that both of them were lying in a pool of blood. One youth identified as Amit Singh was declared brought dead after being taken to hospital, while the other youth — Uttam Singh had received critical injuries on various parts of his body. The locals took them to a nearby hospital before the police reached the spot.

According to the preliminary investigation, police came to know that the duo was going to Garbeta in West Midnapore from Howrah on their motorcycles. They are investigating why the bikers were performing stunts and how they met with the accident while coming from the opposite direction. The bikes were completely damaged in the accident. It may be mentioned that one youth had died on second Hooghly bridge recently while performing stunts. The other accident occurred in the city on Sunday afternoon. Avijit Das (22) was riding his motorcycle with one Ranjit Shaw riding pillion along RR Avenue when a door of a private car suddenly opened while on the move.

The victims who were following the car could not stop their bike and eventually hit the door of the moving car.

The youths fell off the bike and received injuries on their hands and heads. The accident occurred at around 4.45 pm.

They were immediately rushed to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital. Their health condition is stated to be stable. Police have seized the car and the bike. The city and district police have started probe.
