Kolkata Police arrests four involved in recent dacoities

Kolkata Police arrested four persons, including a Bangladeshi and a woman allegedly involved in the series of dacoities in the city.

Aslam Sheikh, <g data-gr-id="18">Liton</g> Sheikh, Moonmoon Majumdar and Bangladesh national Mohammed <g data-gr-id="19">Jiah</g> Sheikh were arrested from Tiljala area late last night in connection with the latest dacoities in the city, Kolkata Police Joint CP (Crime) Pallab Kanti Ghosh said on Saturday. Acting on the <g data-gr-id="20">tip off</g>, Kolkata Police sleuths arrested the four and seized a car and tools allegedly used in the lootings and some of the looted items, Ghosh said. “It is <g data-gr-id="24">a eight</g> member gang, which was basically into <g data-gr-id="25">burglary</g> and later started dacoity. The mastermind and three are yet to be arrested,” he said. The modus operandi of the three dacoity cases in Jadavpur, Regent Park and Haridevpur was the same and that helped the sleuths, he said. Moonmoon, who used to be a band owner working at different bars on Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, was living with Aslam at a Tiljala flat, from where they were arrested, Ghosh said. In fact, Moonmoon’s four-wheeler was used in the crimes, he said. The four were not using any mobile phones when they were carrying out the dacoities, he said when asked whether they were nabbed by their tower location. Asked whether there could be any other Bangladeshi involved, Ghosh <g data-gr-id="16">said</g> “There is another one and we’ll get the person.”
