KMC principal demands chairman’s removal

Principal of the prestigious Kirori Mal college (KMC), Bhim Sen Singh, has demanded removal of the chairman of the college governing body, Baleshwar Rai, for having indulged in activities of ‘moral turpitude and financial impropriety’.

Addressing media persons on Tuesday, Singh released documents that included copies of police complaints and FIRs naming Rai, a retired bureaucrat who has served as secretary to Government of India. Singh and Rai have been at loggerheads for sometime on various issues with latter having recommended suspension of the Principal, an order which could not be carried out as the college teachers and students protested.

Singh also attacked Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh, who , he said, appointed Rai to persecute him and destabilise the college. ‘The Vice-Chancellor is a game maker and if he does not act against Rai , I would fast outside V-C office, ‘ said Singh.

Singh said, ‘Rai was removed from the post of chairman, Upras Vidhyalya, in Vasant Vihar on 6 July and a case of embezzlement of Rs 91 lakh was registered against him.’

He said Rai forcibly captured the Upras Vidyalya property of UP Samaj alloted by the DDA worth of Rs 1,000 crore, with the help of some retired IAS officers and land mafia.

Singh also said a complaint against Rai was made on March 2010 by security supervisor for creating nuisance in the school.
