Three week after the famous Lajpat Nagar robbery, Delhi police have said that the kingpin of the gang that executed the heist may surrender soon.
The police, which has failed to nab the main culprit and recover the entire looted money, said the kingpin along with two other main accused in the crime are likely to surrender before them soon. ‘The three accused identified as Shiv Shakti Naidu (kingpin), Shakeel and Pradeep alias Machinder are likely to surrender before Delhi police in a couple of days,’ an official close to the investigation said.
He further told Millennium Post that in the last few days because of media hype and intense investigation, the accused are reportedly under pressure. The investigators have got a tip-off about the surrender plan. ‘They are continuously changing their whereabouts fearing being caught. But they are not leaving the city where they have been hiding since the day of the robbery,’ the official added.
The case is being investigated by Delhi police’s special cell, crime branch and district special staff police. Sources in the special cell said, ‘Raids are on to nab Naidu who is carrying the maximum amount of robbed money with him. We have traced his locations and he will be nabbed soon.’
On 28 January, during the early hours of the day, a Delhi-based businessman Rajesh Kalra was robbed by seven to eight armed assailants near Moolchand when Kalra was on his way to deposit the robbed money in the bank.
