Kin against relation, couple attempts suicide

A couple allegedly tried to commit suicide by consuming poisonous substance in Maurice Nagar area of north Delhi on Monday.
Police official said Praveen Sijwal, 25, and his girlfriend Neha (name changed), 25, wanted to get married but their family members were against the decision.
‘Their family members fixed their marriages, which made them take this extreme step. They left their houses on Monday morning and reached Monta Park. After some discussion, they decided to commit suicide,’ said a police official.
The official further said they got a call regarding the incident around 1 pm. A police team rushed them to Bara Hindu Rao hospital, where their condition was stated to be critical by doctors.
The police official said they received a suicide note from their possession.
‘We want to get married while our families are against us and we are upset,’ read the note, said an official.
Praveen and Neha are neighbours and live in Madipur area in west Delhi. Praveen is an ITI student while Neha is pursuing BEd from a private institute.
WOMAN’S BODY FOUND IN STOLEN CAR
A woman’s body with bullet wounds in her head was found in a locked and stolen car on Monday, said police. The car was parked near Gurgaon Gramin Bank in Rajendra Park area. It was spotted by residents around 9 am on Monday, a police official said. The unidentified victim seemed to be around 25 years of age. ‘She was shot in the head,’ said the official.
Some ornaments on the body indicated that she might be married, he said. Bijender Singh, chief of Rajendra Park police station, said, ‘The body was found on the car’s front seat, next to that of the driver, and the vehicle bore a fake registration number.’ It is owned by Brijlal of Jharsa village, and was stolen on 24 December 2012.
