Kid, granny killed in road mishap

In a tragic incident, a three-year-old girl and her grandmother were killed in a road accident after their scooter was hit by a speeding truck in West Delhi’s Paschim Vihar area on Saturday afternoon.

At the time of the accident, Ravi (28) was riding the Scooty. His mother, identified as Roopvati was pillion riding. She was carrying her granddaughter, Dishu in her arms. Mid-way through their journey, a speeding truck hit the vehicle from behind, as a result of which, both Roopvati and Dishu fell on the ground. The duo was crushed to death by the truck. According to the police, Ravi also lost his balance and he too fell off the two-wheeler, but somehow, he escaped being crushed. After running over the duo, the errant driver tried to flee from the spot but one of the eye-witness, identified as Balvinder Singh, followed him and managed to nab him.

With the help of locals, Singh managed to hold on to him till a police team reach the spot. He was handed over to police and was arrested under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
