With the arrest of four more persons, the police claim to have solved the murder of a 21-year-old Delhi University (DU) student Aarzoo, who was found dead on February 4 in her boyfriend’s house.
The police said the main accused, Naveen Khatri’s father, Raj Kumar, has also been arrested for helping him in destroying crucial evidence related to the murder. The others arrested have been identified as Naveen’s elder brother Sandeep, his uncle Kishan Kumar and cousin Navin.
“The arrests were made late Thursday night, after we learnt about their role while interrogating Naveen. We found out that Naveen had informed Raj kumar and Sandeep on February 4, the day he had murdered Aarzoo (his girlfriend) in a fit of rage and dumped his body,” said Vijay Singh, DCP (North-west).
“Later, he asked his relatives to wash the car, which had bloodstains. Following which, Kishan Kumar and Navin took the car to a service centre. They repeatedly washed the car, in which Aarzoo was killed, only to destroy the evidence,” said the official.
“Apart from Section 302, Sections 201, 202, 203 and 212 under the IPC have been added to the case and the four accused have been booked,” said Singh.
“Initially, Khatri tried to mislead the investigators by giving different versions and blaming his father, brother and two of his relatives for the crime. But after an intense interrogation, he admitted about their role too,” he added.
The official refuted advance planning in Aarzoo’s murder.
