Khadi to become youth-centric

Narendra Modi in his ‘Mann ki Baat’ Radio programme addressed the nation to at least buy one Khadi garment. Taking the initiative forward Kalraj Mishra, Union Minister for MSME, has taken many steps to expand the Khadi market.

On September 18, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) Exhibition of Gujarat, ‘Gujarat Khadi Utsav’ was inaugurated by Kalraj Mishra at Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan. The exhibition will continue till September, 30. 

To provide marketing support to <g data-gr-id="31">micro-entrepreneurs</g> a permanent exhibition has been set up. On this occasion, readymade garments with Khadi patch mirror work from Kutch-Bhuj, was also launched by the Union Minister Giriraj Singh, Minister of State for MSME and Anup K Pujari, Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of MSME was the guest of honour for the occasion. 

S N Tripathi, Additional Secretary, (SME), B H Anil Kumar, Joint Secretary (ARI), M/o MSME and Arun Kumar Jha, CEO and Commissioner, KVIC were also present on the occasion. An exclusive product of Gujarat, ready-made Khadi patch mirror work from Kutch-Bhuj is made available for sale. 

In addition woodcraft, designer footwear, Kutch embroidery, organic products, herbal products, food products and handicraft items from Gujarat are also displayed. As a part of Khadi sales promotion, 20 per cent discount on all Khadi fabric and readymade products is offered to the customers during this period. 

Up to 60 per cent discount is also available on selected Khadi items for stock clearance. Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan is organising regular exhibitions from different states by involving entrepreneurs and institutions from different states on <g data-gr-id="28">rotation</g> basis. 

The Bhavan is also bringing designer garments and products which suit the customer’s taste and preferences. 

They also are  focusing on the choices of the youth. This will bring more sustainability and viability to the Khadi institutions and micro enterprises working across the country.
