Kejriwal’s Mahila Suraksha Dal still on paper

Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s proposed project Mahila Suraksha Dal (MSD) — a parallel security measure to ensure safety of women, the elderly and children — has still not been sent for approval to Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and seems to be lying on paper.

Launched with ‘much hype’ by the AAP supremo, the project presently seems to have hit a roadblock with the MSD files lying with chief secretary Sanjay Kumar Srivastava. The concerned officials are also sceptical about seeking budgetary allocation for the MSD.

‘The idea is to hire a lot of retired security personnel in this parallel force to be deployed on demand of the residents in the area. The plan is to take up the initiative in all the 272 municipal wards of Delhi. This will require a lot of money,’ said a senior Delhi government official.
