Kejriwal seeks Shivraj’s intervention on Omakreshwar dam oustees issue

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday wrote to his Madhya Pradesh counterpart Shivraj Singh Chouhan seeking his intervention in resolving the ongoing issue of Omakreshwar dam at Gogalgaon in Khandwa district.

In his letter to Chouhan, Kejriwal said that he made several attempts to talk to him in the last few days over phone. “I wanted to talk to you on very serious and complex issue regarding the oustees of Omkareshwar dam, who are on Jal Satyagraha for last 10 days,” Kejriwal said. “I request you to have a dialogue with the protesters to iron out a concrete solution to the vexed issue of rehabilitation,” he said.

An agitation by standing in river water to protest raising the water level of the Omkareshwar Dam across the Narmada river from 189 metres to 191 metres, today (Monday) received support from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) here.

AAP activists including women and students stood in a lake in the Pipaliya area of the city since Monday morning to 5 pm, in order to express solidarity with the ongoing ‘Jal Satyagraha’ agitation, which entered its tenth day, in Khandwa district.
