‘The party so far has received over ten lakh responses out of which most favour government formation in the city by AAP,’ said a spokesperson of the Aam Aadmi Party.
She, however, could not give the exact number of people who are in favour of government formation by AAP. ‘We are yet to compile the data, but approximately 65-70 per cent people favoured government formation in Delhi by us,’ she said. According to AAP, out of 10 lakh, over five lakh people voted through mobile phones and online forms, while the rest of the responses were collected via other sources.
AAP workers are also distributing 25 lakh letters in the city. ‘These letters will be collected by Sunday evening and compiled with the data collected through other sources to declare the final result,’ said Prashant Bhushan, senior advocate and leader of AAP. If the referendum goes as per plan, the letters are going to carry more weight than mobile and online responses.
Meanwhile, the party on Friday evening also announced the venues of the first 16 meetings it is going to organise in the city on Saturday – Rohini (4), Tilak Nagar (2), Greater Kailash (1), Mangolpuri (2), Matiala (3) and Patpargunj (4).
These meetings are scheduled from 12-7 p.m. ‘The input of MLAs and our representatives about the mood of the people is very crucial for us in order to take the final decision,’ said Manish Sisodia, who will address his first of four meetings in his assembly segment at Khicharipur dhobi ghat at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
Further, AAP’s 28 MLA elects and defeated candidates will conduct public meetings in each of the 272 municipal wards followed by door-to-door surveys to feel the pulse of the people.
