Anti-graft crusador Anna Hazare on Tuesday said his former close aide and activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal was dreaming if he thought of getting his support for his political party. However, Anna refused to state the reason for his yet another change of heart on Kejriwal, saying times have changed and there would be more trouble if he says anything now.
Hazare, while talking to reporters at Maharashtra Sadan, also said he would speak at an appropriate time why he was forced to change his views on Kejriwal. ‘It is because of the times. I will tell the reason for this change when the time comes...If I say the reason, it will create more trouble,’ he said. He was answering a question on his freqently changed stance on Arvind Kejriwal.
When told that Kejriwal believes Hazare would join him in future if he and his team were on the right path, Hazare said, ‘He is dreaming. What can I say on that?’ He also said that ‘I have never told anybody to vote for this person or that party. If I had belief in politics, I would have stood for elections much earlier.’ He said he never had the intention to enter politics and he does not want to say more on Kejriwal.
Hazare had earlier said he would support good candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) floated by Kejriwal. He had also said earlier he would personally campaign for Arvind Kejriwal if he fights Lok Sabha election against union minister Kapil Sibal from Chandni Chowk. However, a few days back, he said he would not support either Kejriwal or his party and would not vote for them as Kejriwal had become greedy for power.
Hazare also announced his future plans and attacked the central government on FDI in retail and corruption. He said he would start another agitation if the government fails to pass a strong Lokpal Bill in the Parliament. ‘I am studying the Bill in Rajya Sabha. If it is not strong, we will organise another movement before 2014 elections,’ he said. Hazare said he would visit across the country, starting from Pune on 30 January to awaken people as the Parliament was not upholding constitution.
