Kejriwal invites CM for debate

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday dared Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit to engage in an open public debate with him at Ramlila Maidan on the issues of inflated power and water bills along with the security of women in the capital.

Kejriwal was responding to Dikshit’s political secretary Pawan Khera’s letter in which Khera had said that Kejriwal had muddied the politics in the capital.
Khera had also asked Kejriwal to refrain from making personal attacks on the chief minister saying that the attacks had reduced politics to a ‘cheap gimmick’. Rejecting the charge, Kejriwal said, ‘I invite you for a public debate.
This debate may happen at Ramlila Maidan. Date and time will be of your (Dikshit) convenience.
Kejriwal also asked the Dikshit not to give party tickets to people facing criminal charges. He said if Dikshit wants clean governance then she must tell Congress not to give tickets to more than one member of a family.

On the issue of women’s safety, Kejriwal said that being a woman herself, Dikshit chose to do nothing to curb growing violence against women. On the issue of ‘inflated’ power and water bills, Kejriwal alleged that the Delhi government was hand-in-glove with the power companies.
Meanwhile, AAP released the final list of its candidates for another nine assembly seats. The list also included the name of Kejriwal, who will be contesting the assembly poll from New Delhi seat.
