Kejriwal, cabinet have their jobs cut out

Kejriwal will head six portfolios- power, finance, vigilance, home, planning, services and residual departments. Thus, he will be responsible for fulfilling the promise of reducing power tariff by 50 per cent, auditing of power companies by CAG, and checking of electricity meters by an independent agency. While holding the portfolio of vigilance, he will be responsible for containing corruption and also battle for full statehood of Delhi as he holds state home ministry as well. As chief minister, he will be ex-officio chairman of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), thus be directly responsible for implementing his promise of providing 700 litre of free water to every household.

Manish Sisodia, who is number two in the ministry, will be responsible for opening 500 new schools, development of unauthorised colonies and slums and providing homes to the poor as he holds education, higher education, PWD, Urban Development, Local Bodies, Land and Building, and Revenue departments. Next is Saurabh Bhardwaj with responsibilities to contain price hike of food items particularity vegetables like onions and managing transport in the city as he holds Food and Civil Supply, Transport, Environment, Election and General Administration. Rakhi Birla, the youngest in the cabinet, will be responsible for security of women in the city as she has been allocated Women and Child Development, social welfare, and languages departments. Satender Jain will be responsible for enhancing facilities in hospitals, industrial development and Gurudwara management.

Somnath Bharti has been assigned Law, tourism, administrative reforms, and art and culture while Girish Soni will look after employment, development, SC/ST, skill mission and labour departments.
