Arvind Kejriwal, Prashant Bhushan and four other leaders of India Against Corruption on Monday accused police of harassing their supporters who participated in the 26 August protest against coal block allocation.
Kejriwal, Bhushan, Manish Sisodia, Gopal Rai, Kumar Vishwas and Sanjay Singh went to the Parliament Street Police Station this morning and met additional commissioner K C Dwivedi.
Before the meeting, Kejriwal told reporters that police was ‘harassing’ the volunteers in the name of recording statements in connection with the cases registered on 26 August during their protest on coal block allocation.
‘We will tell police to arrest us and not harass our volunteers. We will ask them why they are troubling our volunteers. We are responsible. We will accept the charges and we are ready to face the punishment,’ Kejriwal said. He said police had charged them with rioting and defying prohibitory orders.
‘We are ready for the punishment but our supporters should not be harassed,’ Kejriwal said. An IAC spokesperson said police was recording the statements of all the six leaders under the relevant sections of IPC.

KEJRIWAL READY TO FACE ARREST FOR PROTEST
Voicing his protest against harassment of India Against Corruption (IAC) activists, Arvind Kejriwal Monday said they were ready to face punishment if the government felt that protesting against corruption was akin to breaking the law, and added that they would continue to do so in future.
Kejriwal said the IAC, headed by him, has sent a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as well as Delhi Police protesting against the 'harassment' of supporters who participated in the Aug 26 protest outside the houses of the prime minister, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Nitin Gadkari against coal block allocations. Reading from the letter to his supporters gathered outside Parliament Street police station, Kejriwal said: 'We are ready for the punishment but our supporters should not be harassed. The police has been harassing our supporters. We have told police to arrest us and not harass our volunteers. We are responsible. We will accept the charges and we are ready to face the punishment.
ANNA TO PLAN ANTI-GRAFT STRATEGY THIS MONTH
Bangalore: After disbanding his team, Anna Hazare is working on plans to stitch a new team in the crusade against corruption for which he has convened a meeting of like-minded people by the end of this month.
Former Karnataka Lokayukta Santosh Hegde, who was part of erstwhile Team Anna disbanded by the social activist on 6 August , said Hazare told him about the plans when he met him during his week-long stay here for naturopathy treatment.
'He (Hazare) is going to call a meeting of all like-minded people by the end of this month and he will work out a strategy based on views expressed there (the meeting),' Hegde, a former Supreme Court judge, said here on Monday. 'It will draw up a road-map for the future,' he added.
