Kejri’s secy, former power secy transferred by MHA

Following the imposition of president’s rule in Delhi, the union home ministry has conducted a major overhaul of the administrative machinery of the state. In a big reshuffle, a number of senior bureaucrats have been transferred to other departments, while some, taken out of crucial departments, are still awaiting assignation of new responsibilities.

Senior IAS officer  Arun Goyal, a 1985-batch AGMUT officer, who was hitherto the principal secretary cum commissioner of food and supplies, has now been transferred from his erstwhile department and reassigned as principal secretary (power), CMD of Delhi Transco Limited and chairman of Pragati Power Corporation Limited (PPCL) and IPGCL. However, former power secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, an IIT Kharagpur alumnus, has not been assigned any duties so far.

Similarly, senior IAS officer Rajendra Kumar, who was earlier appointed as the secretary to former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, was on Tuesday transferred to the urban development department. A 1989-batch IAS officer, who like Kejriwal is also an IIT alumnus, Kumar held the post of the higher education secretary and had earlier handled various departments, including power and transport.

‘Kumar has been transferred to Delhi government’s urban development department as its secretary,’ said a senior official in the department of services. The former urban development secretary, SS Yadav, has been reassigned as the secretary cum commissioner in the food and supplies department, the official added. Yadav, hitherto secretary in the food and civil supplies, was transferred to the urban development department and was also  made the director of local bodies. Yadav had executed the rollout of the food security programme in the Capital.
