AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday raised questions over silence of BJP and Congress on the issue of CAG audit of Delhi power discoms. The former Delhi CM asked why BJP union government was not forcing power companies to share data with CAG. Kejriwal on Sunday tweeted: ‘Conspiracy to kill CAG audit of Delhi power discoms? Why BJP government is not forcing power companies to give records to CAG?’. He tweeted again: ‘Interestingly, both BJP and Congress are silent on CAG audit of discoms. Why?’
Kejriwal raised the issue after CAG Shashi Kant Sharma wrote a letter to Delhi L-G Najeeb Jung apprising him of the fact that the three discoms in the state were refusing to share vital records for court-ordered audit. The CAG told the LG of ‘frequent changes made in data supplied and the missing fields’ which remain unresolved. Sharma in his letter said, ‘With such gaps in the information provided to audit, it is not possible to arrive at any reliable audit conclusion.’
AAP warned that the party would protest any further rise in electricity tariff in the national capital. ‘It is extremely shocking that the top CAG officials have been forced to remind the LG and about their duty to ensure that it is mandatory for the discoms to provide all their account books to the auditors,’ said AAP in a statement.
‘The AAP will lead an unprecedented protest in the national capital in case DERC (Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission) goes ahead with its plan to raise the electricity tariffs without waiting for the findings of the CAG audit,’ the party said in a statement.
