Kedarnath route still remains deplorable for commuters

The condition of Rudraprayag-Kedarnath highway is still deplorable and dangerous, and villagers are finding it difficult to move from one place to another. Private taxi and jeep owners are fed-up with this fractured route which needs constant vigil and alertness during driving due to debris on the road and abundance of sharp turns. Most drivers of this route revealed that their vehicles demanding frequent repairing, thus adding more holes in their pocket during this time of crises.
Kedarnath MLA Shailarani Rawat admitted that the condition of road in Kedarnath highway is worst of all and she herself paid hefty sum of money for her vehicle repairing. ‘We hoped that Border Road Organisation will complete their work by the end of 2013, but it turned to be damp squib. The repair work was never done with far footing. And, in this condition, how can we expect that in this coming pilgrim season, we can promote tourists/pilgrims to visit Kedarnath shrine in large numbers.’
