Kaur inaugurates photo expo to highlight Centre’s schemes

Union Minister for Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Wednesday inaugurated a photo exhibition ‘Saal Ek <g data-gr-id="22">Shuruaat</g> Anek’ in Gangtok.
The week-long exhibition has been organised by Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP), which functions under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. She said the Centre is paying special attention towards the development of North-East states through its Act East Policy.
The Minister said the centre has allocated Rs 53,000 crore for the development of North-East states in the Union Budget, including scholarship schemes for students and proposal to set up six agricultural universities and upgrading power transmission in the states for which Rs 10,000 crore has been sanctioned.
She said the exhibition depicted the initiatives and schemes taken up by the Centre in several fields. Badal added that no scam was reported in the past one year and there was no case of ‘policy paralysis’. <g data-gr-id="24">Flaying</g> the Opposition over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign trips, she asserted that his visits had increased the country’s status globally. She further said that the ‘Make in India’ campaign has become a reality with the world looking towards making huge investments in the country.
The Minister said foreign investments would lead to infrastructure development and create job opportunities in the country, which will help boost the government’s concept of ‘Sab Ka Sath Sabka Vikas’.
The Minister said the government has accepted the 14th Finance Commission’s recommendation, which entails for allocating more fund to states.
