Kashmir limps back to normalcy

Kashmir on Thursday started limping back to normalcy, five days after the hanging of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru, even as curfew remained in force in 10 towns of the Valley as a precautionary measure. A police spokesman said curfew has been relaxed in many parts of the Valley this morning.

‘Curfew is in force in some places as a precautionary measure which includes six police station areas in the city and some towns in rest of the Valley,’ the spokesman said. He said curfew was not relaxed in north Kashmir towns of Sopore, Pattan, Baramulla, Handwara and Bandipora while in south Kashmir restrictions continued in Shopian, Yaripora and Anantnag town. Curfew also remained in force in old Srinagar city.
