‘Kareena once said I can never direct films’

Recalling the incident on Koffee With Karan, Zoya amusingly revealed to fellow guest Rohit Shetty that years back, she and Kareena Kapoor had a heated argument over Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge at Shah Rukh Khan’s residence.
Kareena had asked Zoya if Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was her favourite love story in the world to which Zoya had replied a ‘No’. ‘I find Casablanca as the best love story ever made, not DDLJ.
I liked it but I never thought it was the greatest story ever.’
Being a fan of the SRK-Kajol starrer, Kareena wasn’t too happy with Zoya’s response and stated that she will never be able to make films in her life! Calling Bebo ‘fun’, Zoya narrated the incident on the show much to Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar’s amusement.
Rohit, who has worked with Kareena in the Golmaal series and is now working with her in Singham 2, said that Kareena was his source for all the gossip in the industry.
In fact during the rapid fire round, Rohit stated that had Kareena not been an actress, she would have written for a gossip coloumn.
Zoya was initially to work with Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor on her next film, but they both turned down the offer. Did that affect Zoya, asked Karan, ‘ No I am that way quite thick skinned.
And I am happy with the actors I have now in the film (Ranvir Singh and Priyanka Chopra) and very excited to start shooting,’ said Zoya.
The two directors spoke about the different genres of filmmaking they belong to on the show which is hosted by Karan Johar.
