Kalburgi murder: CID starts probe

The CID has begun <g data-gr-id="15">investigation</g> into the murder of noted Kannada scholar and researcher <g data-gr-id="16">M M</g> Kalburgi, who was shot dead by unknown men at his residence here on August 30. CID is also probing whether there was a “larger conspiracy” to eliminate rationalist and progressive thinkers.
“We are no more in possession of the case. It has been handed over to the CID on Tuesday. CID has begun <g data-gr-id="19">investigation</g>,” <g data-gr-id="17">Hubbali</g>-Dharwad Police Commissioner Pandurang Rane said here. The Karnataka government had decided to hand over the case to CBI, but CID will investigate into the incident till it is taken over by the central agency. Rane said Superintendent of Police D C Rajappa, who is leading a CID team, visited <g data-gr-id="18">Kalburgi’s</g> house and interacted with his family members to get preliminary leads to crack the case.
Sketches of two suspects released
Sketches of two suspects who killed noted Kannada scholar MM Kalburgi on August 30 were released on Wednesday by the police, as the CID began a probe into the murder. "Yes, we have released sketches of two suspects who killed Kalburgi ... it is uploaded in our website," Hubballi-Dharwad Commissioner Pandurang H Rane said.
