'Engineering education is bigger & important than stream preference’
Both software engineering and core engineering courses are promising fields of study with a lot of job options

In today’s world, engineering has become one of the most sought-after courses among students. With the increasing demand for technology and innovation, engineering has become a crucial field of study. However, with the changing times, the field of engineering has also evolved, and now there are various specialisations available for students to choose from. Two such specialisations are software engineering (CSE, IT, CSBS, AIML, Data Science, Cyber Security etc) and core engineering (ECE, EE, AEIE, ME, Civil etc).

Software engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the design, development, and maintenance of software. It involves the application of engineering principles to software development. The course covers various topics such as software design, software testing, software maintenance, and software project management and delivery. The demand for software engineers has been increasing rapidly in recent years, and it is expected to grow even more in the future.
Core engineering, on the other hand, is a more traditional branch of engineering that deals with the design, development, and maintenance of physical systems. It includes various fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electronics Engineering. The course covers topics such as mechanics, thermodynamics, electronics, embedded systems, PLC and materials science. The demand for core engineers has also been increasing, and it is expected to grow in the future.
If core engineering students learn basic computer programming skills and English communication along with their domain subjects, it can significantly enhance their career prospects.
Here are some of the benefits which core engineering students will get:
Increased employability: With the increasing use of technology in the engineering field, having basic computer programming skills can make core engineering students more employable. They can work on software-related projects and collaborate with software engineers to develop new products and technologies. Simultaneously they can get the scope to work on core engineering companies, just for example, Titagarh Wagon, Pinnacle, L&T, BHEL, IOC or any steel company or construction company and many more. Even they can opt for various jobs regulated by the state and central government of India.
Better communication: English is the language of business and engineering. Good communication skills can help core engineering students to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders. This can help them to build better relationships and work more efficiently.
Career growth: With the right skills and attitude, Core Engineering students can progress to higher positions in their careers. They can take up leadership roles and manage teams of engineers. They can also explore opportunities in other fields such as management, consulting, and entrepreneurship.
Global opportunities: English is the most widely spoken language in the world, and having good communication skills can open up global opportunities for core engineering students. They can work for multinational companies, collaborate with international teams, and explore opportunities in other countries. Therefore, learning basic computer programming skills and English communication can significantly enhance the career prospects of core engineering students. It can increase their employability, help them to communicate effectively, and open up global opportunities. Irrespective of the stream, many companies are looking for skilled engineers who can help them develop new products and technologies. As a result, there are many job opportunities available for both software engineers and core engineers who can develop eco-friendly products and technologies for the organisation and society.
From computer science engineering, and information technology to any core engineering, students are getting equal opportunities to showcase their engineering knowledge and skills in front of leading recruiters. Till now, all the leading companies like Capgemini, TCS, Cognizant, Wipro, LTI, CGS, IBM, Accenture and many more have given equal employment opportunity to all the fresh engineering graduates of our college. Campus placement opportunities are provided by the college Training and Placement (T&P) Department on or before the final year of engineering studies. The officials of T&P Department are well connected with the different industries, and based on the requirements of the industries, the college arranges the latest technology training and soft skill development training apart from the university syllabus. This helps the students to stay updated with the latest technologies and they can groom themselves and it increases their chances of getting placed in top-level companies. Continuous monitoring and guidance are our key strengths.
Both software engineering and core engineering courses are promising fields of study with a lot of job opportunities. The key to success in these fields is to acquire engineering knowledge and logical, analytical skills and be open to learning any technology at any point in time along with the right interpersonal skills and attitude and students can excel in these fields and have a successful career.
I wish all the best to all young aspirants who are interested in engineering.
