K Raghu takes over as ICAI President, Manoj Fadnis V-P

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on Wednesday announced that CA K Raghu has taken over the charge of President and CA Manoj Fadnis has been selected as the new Vice President for 2014-15. ICAI also announced the launch of their new mobile application.
Announcing the areas of strategic focus of the institute, newly elected Ppresident Raghu said, ‘The two major focus areas of the institute this year would be women empowerment and young members empowerment. We are working on creating a flexi-working portal for women members who handle the household and the office work. We are also setting up a committee for young member empowerment to help and support our budding young CA members.’
Raghu also announced the institute’s other strategic focus areas which included technology initiatives like setting up ICAI Global Technology Centres, collaborating with global standard setters and regulators for positioning ICAI in more proactive role in international standards-setting process, institutionalizing interface with members-in-Industry in standard-setting process, undertaking steps to enhance participation of companies in campus placements. He also stated that the institute would also introduce new certificate courses to equip its members to venture into new and emerging areas of practice.
ICAI has also approached Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) for providing a separate educational channel through Doordarshan to ICAI.
