A 40-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his minor son, who attacked the deceased to defend his mother, in his residence at Rohini sector 16 in the outer fringes of Delhi, on Sunday night.
Police said the 14-year-old boy was agitated when he saw his mother being assaulted by his father, who used to come home in an inebriated state regularly.
The deceased lived at Sardar Colony in Sector 16 of Rohini with his wife and three children. He was an auto-driver. Around 11.30 pm on Sunday, a call was received by the police control room and they were informed that a man at Sardar Colony was allegedly stabbed by his eldest son.
‘Police reached the spot immediately and rushed the victim to the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, where he was admitted with severe wounds. On Monday morning, he succumbed to his injuries,’ said a police official.
As narrated by the police official, the juvenile was apprehended by the police soon after the incident. He told police that on Sunday night, his father had come home heavily drunk and started fighting with his mother. The juvenile then locked himself, along with his siblings, in a separate room.
After some time, he heard his father beating his mother severely. Soon he pulled out a dagger and stabbed his father near the abdomen. According to a source, the neighbours also told police that the juvenile and his siblings regularly witnessed domestic violence and the deceased (their father) used to come home drunk and beat his wife almost every day. The juvenile is a class 9 student at a government school in outer Delhi.
On Monday, he was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, from where he was sent to the correction home. He also claimed, ‘if he had not killed his father, the deceased would have strangled his mother.’
