Juvenile released after serving time for murder does it again, arrested

A 17-year-11-month-old juvenile, who was recently released by the juvenile justice board after being held for murder, has again killed a senior citizen woman and robbed the cash and valuables from her residence in South Delhi’s Lodhi Colony area on Monday. The accused has been apprehended by police on Thursday.
The incident took place on Monday when Mithlesh Jain, a retired government servant was at her residence and the juvenile who was known to her managed a friendly entry at her residence in B K Dutt Colony in Lodhi Colony area. The accused smothered her to death and robbed the cash and valuables from her residence. However, the robbed valuables are yet to be ascertained.
A case under the section of murder was registered at Lodhi Colony police station on Wednesday and Sub-Inpsector Prakash, Brijesh and Vijay under the supervision of Inspector Sanjeev Kumar carried out the investigation. On Thursday, based on mobile surveillance, they apprehended the accused from Faridabad who was using the mobile phone of the deceased that he had stolen.
The juvenile confessed to his involvement in the crime and during interrogation it was learnt that he was apprehended earlier by South-east district police for a murder case of Badarpur. In November last year, he was released by the juvenile justice board.
According to police, the woman used to stay alone in the first floor of her residence since her husband died in the recent past. Her son stays in Singapore while her grand-daughter stays in America. On Monday, when one of the neighbour who stays in the second floor did not see the woman for the whole day, he went to her residence and rang the door bell but to no avail. He noticed that the doors were open. When he entered inside he saw her lying unconscious in the kitchen and she was bleeding from the nose.
Police was informed who took her to AIIMS Trauma where she was declared dead. Her body was kept in the mortuary and on Wednesday when her family members reached Delhi, the post-mortem examination was conducted.
During the examination, it was found that she was smothered. When her son and grand-daughter reached the house, they saw no traces of being ransacked. With the help of duplicate keys when they opened the almirah they found cash and jewellery along with other valuables missing.
