Juvenile killed, robbed senior citizen to lead lavish life

To wear branded clothes, make girl-friends and to live a lavish life like a celebrity, the 17-year-11-month-old juvenile killed and robbed the elderly widow in South Delhi’s Lodhi Colony area on Thursday.

Soon after killing Mithilesh Jain (68), the juvenile who was released from juvenile justice board two months ago for a kidnapping-cum-murder case of a 13-year-old boy, went for shopping”. “Out of Rs 7,000 he spent Rs 1,300 in shopping. He had bought an Adidas jeans and shoes from a showroom in South Delhi. The remaining cash and valuables have been recovered from his possession,” police said.

The juvenile, had managed a friendly entry at Jain’s first floor residence in BK Dutt’s colony. The accused’s mother, who is a maid, used to stay near the colony long time back and was known to the deceased. On that basis, the juvenile went to her residence and when she opened the door, he asked for water. When she went to the kitchen he smothered her to death and robbed the house.

He had stolen cash, jewellery, an I-pad and two mobile phones. Millennium Post had earlier reported that the juvenile was apprehended with the help of mobile surveillance. The accused switched on the mobile for few minutes and he was located and apprehend from Faridabad.

The juvenile who had killed a 13-year-old boy with his girlfriend only to participate in a dance reality show, was released by the juvenile justice board after two months  in November last year for his ‘good behaviour’ in the juvenile home and on his parenys’ request that he has his class X examinations to appear for. “We cannot question the judiciary but they should treat the juvenile offenders as criminals specially for the henious crimes. Now, who will be responsible for the elderly woman’s murder?” a police official, requesting anonymity asked.

During investigation it also came to light that in the juvenile home he came in contact with dreaded juvenile criminals and their gang members. He seemed very much influenced by the crime world.

“The law ministry should take action in this case against the concerned authorities as letting off juvenile criminals for their good behaviour is alarming,” the official added.
