Juvenile held for raping minor, victim unstable

A juvenile was arrested by Delhi police for raping a two-and-a half-year-old girl in east Delhi on Sunday. The victim is currently admitted at a city hospital and her condition is said to be serious.
According to police, the incident took place on Sunday night, when the victim was playing outside her residence in the Trilokpuri area. The accused, also a minor and a resident of the same area lured the girl into following him with candies and chocolates. He took her to an isolated place and raped her.
'When the victim started screaming, some people who were present close by rushed to the spot, but by then the accused had fled from the spot,’ a police official said.
Eyewitnesses told the police that the victim was semi-conscious and lying in a pool of blood. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and the police was informed about the crime.
A team of police officials reached the hospital, while another was sent to the crime scene. The accused was nabbed in a few hours based on the description given by eyewitnesses.
The girl is undergoing medical treatment and her condition is still not stable.
Locals staged a protest against the police when they found out about the crime and the delicate health condition of the victim. But the announcement of the accused’s arrest helped control the mob.
'A case under the appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the arrested accused and he has been sent to a juvenile home,' the official added.
In a separate incident, another minor was arrested for raping a five-year-old girl in the Aman Vihar area on Sunday afternoon. The girl told her mother about the incident, who then approached the police station and filed a complaint against the 17-year-old boy. The juvenile was apprehended after a medical examination of the victim confirmed rape.
