In a fit of rage, a 17-year-old boy killed his elder brother with a cooking utensil for smoking inside their house in Mangolpuri area in Outer Delhi on Thursday evening.
According to the police, the incident took place at around 5 pm when the victim, identified as Rahul (22) who lived with his family in a rented accommodation, was smoking inside the house when his younger brother started fighting with him. Their heated argument turned violent when the 17-year-old boy thrashed Rahul with a grill (tava) and fled the spot.
Police said that Rahul used to work in a shoe factory and had constant fights with his younger brother and their mother over issues like smoking and not going regularly to the factory. Rahul’s parents own a clothing shop near their rented accommodation in Mangolpuri area.
A neighbour informed the police when he saw Rahul lying in a pool of blood inside the house. The police took him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Police have kept his body in the mortuary and will hand it over to his parents who were in Rajasthan.
Based on the tip-off from local intelligence, the juvenile was nabbed from a nearby area. According to a senior police official, the boy revealed during interrogation that he was fed up with his elder brother’s delinquent behaviour and attacked him with the grill in a state of anger. A case of murder under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered at the Mangolpuri police station.
