Juvenile arrested for making hoax call to Air India

According to senior police officials, the juvenile, who was apprehended from Noida, had made the hoax calls just for fun after he got the Air India call centre number from a calendar that his father had purchased. 

According to the police, on May 18, Delhi Police received an information that bomb has been planted in the flight scheduled from Delhi Airport at 4am on May 19. To add to the woes, the caller didn’t reveal the flight number. 

During investigation, police found that the call was made at a Mumbai-based call centre of Air India at around 6.20 pm on May 18. After extensive checking, police found that the call was hoax. On the other hand, Delhi Police registered an FIR under Sections 505(b) IPC and 3(1) (d) - the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Civil Aviation Act.

 “With the help of technical surveillance and raids in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, a juvenile was apprehended on May 20. We have recovered the mobile phone and SIM used in the crime,” said DK Gupta, DCP (IGIA).The juvenile was interrogated jointly by the Delhi Police’ Special Cell and other security agencies.
