Justice Kumar to seek Rs 25 crore as damages from top media houses

Former Supreme Court judge and chairman of national green tribunal (NGT) Justice Swatanter Kumar, who was alleged to have sexually harassed an intern, is seeking Rs 25 crore as damages from top media organisations.
Justice Kumar is set to file defamation suit against some media organisations in Delhi high court on Wednesday. Justice Kumar says he was defamed by publication and telecast of baseless and incredulous allegations of a law intern about an imaginary incident nearly three years ago. Earlier, the Supreme Court agreed to hear a petition by the law intern, against the alleged incident of May 2011. The law graduate moved the apex court on Monday and has challenged the SC’s 5 December decision not to entertain complaints against retired judges.
