Jung issues clarification on Bharti case

Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung in a press statement has clarified his office has not referred the case related to former Delhi law minister Somnath Bharti to the president of India. ‘The matter related to the Somnath Bharti case has not been referred to the Hon’ble President. News circulating regarding the same is not based on facts,’ said a press statement issued by LG office.

Earlier, in the day a section of media, reported Najeeb Jung has sought the President’s assent to register a criminal case against former Delhi law minister Somnath Bharti in connection with the midnight raid against African women following Home Department’s observation that such a case was made out against the controversial minister.

The judicial probe report by retired additional district judge BL Garg had virtually given a clean chit to the Malviya Nagar police in the incident in Khirki Extension. The report was submitted to Jung in February.
