Jung directs corporations to check spread of dengue

The Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung reviewed the Action Plan and preparedness for control of vector borne diseases, with special reference to dengue prevention and control on Tuesday at Raj Niwas with different stakeholders representing Central government, state government, local bodies, Delhi Police and other agencies.
In the review meeting, Jung directed to various land owning, housing and construction agencies viz. DDA, CPWD, PWD (GNCTD), DMRC, Railways to adopt practices which would result in significant reduction of breeding of Aedes mosquitoes at construction sites, parks, water bodies and other areas.
The police department was given directions to adopt source reduction measures. The beat constables are to be directed to keep a watch on mosquito breeding in their respective areas and to report the same to the concerned municipalities and secretary (Health & Family Welfare) for action.
The LG also directed the municipal agencies to mount full scale efforts for control of dengue through source reduction. He asked them to follow a targeted approach, based on pockets of high incidence as per previous year’s experience. He directed DDA to take special care in their buildings and areas.
