JuH demands 10% separate quota for Muslims

Noting that country’s Muslims remained backward even as regimes kept changing, the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (JuH) on Monday demanded that a separate 10 per cent quota be given to the community, doing away with the mechanism under which they are entitled benefits of OBC reservation.

‘The existing OBC quota benefit is not reaching to Muslims as there is a disparity and bias based on castes. Influential castes are drawing the maximum privilege,’ JuH general secretary Maulana Sayyad Mahmood A Madni said.

He demanded that the quota shall be given as per the recommendations of the Ranganath Misra Commission.

Madni observed that there should be a more holistic approach for the welfare of Muslims and the perception of people towards them needs to be changed.

He advised that the Muslims also need to transform them to match up with the changing trends in society and politics and ensure development and prosperity for themselves.
