Judicial custody of BSP MP, wife extended till 16 December

Judicial custody of BSP MP Dhananjay Singh and his wife, in connection with the murder of their maid, has been extended till 16 December by a magistrate in Tihar jail on Thursday.

According to sources, the court was informed that the MP from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, and Jagriti, earlier a dental surgeon at the RML Hospital here, could not be produced before it, as police officials, who escort the accused, were on Delhi assembly election duty. Hence the magistrate has extended their judicial custody.

The court on Tuesday issued production warrants against the lawmaker and his wife for the same reason. Dhananjay and Jagriti were arrested on 5 November in connection with the death of their 35-year-old maid Rakhi Bhadra.

Dhananjay, was arrested for allegedly destroying evidence and not informing the police about the maid’s death immediately.

Jagriti has been arrested on accusations of murder, attempt to murder and wrongful confinement of her domestic help.
