Joshi attacks Modi over foreign trips

<g data-gr-id="38">Spokesperson</g> of the All-India Congress <g data-gr-id="39">Committee</g> (AICC) Rita Bahuguna Joshi attacked the Narendra Modi government for being anti-farmer in the city on Wednesday. She also took on the Prime Minister who is on whirlwind foreign trips.

“For the past one year, Modiji, along with five big corporate houses, is on a whirlwind foreign tour with the sole intention of highlighting flaws in our nation. He is interested in taking selfies and eyeing big investment, without caring for the welfare of poor and helpless peasants who are committing suicides,” she said.

Joshi added: “In China, the PM said earlier people born in India cursed their fate as being punished for sins that they had committed in their past lives. This has degraded the image of our country in the alien land. The Congress condemns this statement. Grabbing power on the slogan of ‘Good days will come,’ the anti-poor Narendra Modi government is making policies to appease the corporate sector.
He has derailed all previous beneficiary schemes, pushing development in the reverse gear. We are going to expose this NDA government in all states from May 20 to 26.”

She said: “The government has slashed the social sector spending by a whopping Rs 1, 75,122 crore in one year alone by way of Rs 66,222-crore cut in grants on social sector schemes, Rs 5,900 crore cut by closing down backward regions grant fund and Rs 1, 03,000 crore cut by not implementing the food security programme – aimed at 67 <g data-gr-id="26">per cent</g> of the Indian population.” She also attacked the government over the declining agricultural growth.
