JNU students including Kanhaiya won’t reply to show-cause notice

The confrontation between Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration and students over February 9 event is set to escalate further. Most of the students who were served show cause notice on Monday by the administration based on the recommendations of an internal investigation committee have refused to reply. The JNUSU secretary, Rama Naga said: “The charges against us are lacking clarity and it seems that the investigation committee appointed by the Vice chancellor was formed only to punish all of us. To what allegation do we send our explanation? If an inquiry was conducted then it must have decided what the allegations are against us and what have we been found guilty of. A show cause notice not only specifies the charges against you but also punishment being given. This notice mentions nothing.” Rama Naga is one of the 21 students who has been served the notice. JNUSU joint secretary Saurabh Sharma, who belongs  to the ABVP, denied receiving any such notice.

Earlier, the JNUSU vice-president Shehla Rashid Shora, alleged that the V-C did not consider inducting a woman in the investigation panel as a woman student has been named in anti-India slogan shouting.
