JMM meets to review support to Munda

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) met here on Sunday to decide whether or not to keep supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in the state.

The two-day meeting of legislators and other party leaders of the JMM will end on Monday.

This follows BJP Chief Minister Arjun Munda’s announcement that there was no question of handing over his office to the JMM Jan 10 when the BJP-JMM alliance in the state completes 28 months.

The party executive committee will meet on Monday.

‘The meeting will ... discuss whether to continue support to (the government) or walk away,’ a JMM source said. The JMM has five ministers in the BJP-led cabinet, including deputy chief minister Hemant Soren.

‘There are two points of view in the party,’ the source said. ‘One section wants to continue supporting the government while the second group wants an immediate withdrawal of support.’
