Jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh stolen from car

After diverting owner’s attention, two motorcycle-borne assailants stole a bag containing jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh from an Audi car in West Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area on Friday. The accused are yet to be identified.

At the time of the incident, father-son, who have a jewellery business were inside the car. They have been identified as Tasmeet Singh (30) and his father Surender, residents of Rajouri Garden.  When their car stopped at a traffic signal in Moti Nagar, two men on a motorcycle approached them and knocked the car’s window. When Tanseem, who was driving the car, asked them about the matter, the duo informed him about the leakage from the back of his car.

“Getting to know about some fault in the car, Tanseem immediately get down from the car to check. His father also followed him to the backside of the car. When they found nothing wrong with the car, they got back into the car to check for the bags that were found missing,” a police official said. Tanseem called police control room and a police team reached the spot who took them to the police station. They told police that the duo accused could not be identified as they were wearing helmets. A case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Punjabi Bagh police station.
