Jeev to feature in Innovative Hero Challenge knockout

Jeev Milkha Singh will fly the Indian flag high as efforts continue to bring in more fans and newcomers to popularise the game further with the introduction of the unique Hero Challenge on the eve of the British Masters supported by Sky Sports.

The Hero Challenge to be held at the lovely setting at The Grove in London’s Country Estate, where the main tournament will be played from Thursday, will see eight players from six countries in a fast-paced event under floodlights.

Led by tournament-host and former World No.1 Luke Donald, the other seven are Jeev Milkha Singh, a four-time winner on European Tour and one of India’s golfing superstars, Ryder Cupper Andy Sullivan, fan favourite Andrew Johnston, in-form Swede Alex Noren, US Open runner-up Shane Lowry, big-hitting Bernd Wiesberger, and multiple winner Alex Levy.

Jeev, who has been a long-term supporter of innovations in the game said, “Innovations and new ideas are needed to more new fans to the sport. It will be interesting to have this Hero Challenge, which will have stars playing out a one-hole knock-out and the fact that it will be shown live on TV and also streamed on web and social media means a bigger audience for our sport.”

The four professional winners from the four opening round matches will progress through to two semi-finals with the subsequent two winners contesting a final head-to-head match to decide the first Hero Challenge champion. If the two opponents halve the hole, the outcome of that contest will be decided by the tee shot, which was nearest to the pin.
