JD(U) writes to HM over Pappu security upgrade

Recalling the promises of Modi that his government would not give any patronage to criminals, Kumar in his letter said, “Despite the fact that Yadav has himself admitted in his affidavit that 17 criminal cases have been lodged against him under different sections of the IPC, the Home Ministry has provided Y class of security to him. Yadav is facing cases under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), 365 (kidnapping or abducting), 402 (cheating), among others.”

“It’s a known fact that Yadav, the MP from Madhepura, has spent several months in Delhi’s Tihar jail and Patna’s Beur jail as an accused in Left leader Ajit Sarkar’s murder case. The security of such level to a murderer proves that Modi government’s zero tolerance policy towards criminals was just an eyewash,” the JD(U) leader in his letter said.

Taking a jibe at Centre, Kumar said, “We urge Modi government to pick candidates for assembly polls from the list of 90,000 criminals who were put behind the bars by Nitish Kumar government and fulfil their agenda by giving Y class security to anti-social elements.” Earlier this year, Yadav was expelled from the RJD, headed by Lalu Prasad. The five-time parliamentarian has formed his own party now, and sources suggest he will fight the upcoming assembly election in Bihar in alliance with former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi and the BJP. Manjhi was also given a security upgrade by the Centre recently. He now has Z category security, which makes him one of the country’s most protected politicians.
