Jaya opens Rs 25.46 crore Greater Chennai CoP office

Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Friday inaugurated the new 10-storey office of the Greater Chennai Police Commissioner in Vepery locality here.
The highrise with a built-up area of 1,73,00 sq ft built on a 5.49 acre site on Periyar EVR Road in Vepery locality has been built at a cost of Rs 25.46 crore.
Chief secretary Sheela Balakrishnan, DGP K Ramanujam and senior police officials were also present during the inauguration.
The new building, which is close to the Egmore railway station, has a public grievance cell, press room and public relation officer's office in the ground floor.
Hitherto, the Police Commissioner’s office was functioning from a colonial building in Egmore area.
