Jaya announces Rs 500-cr health check-up schemes

Master health check-up plans, including a special one for women and Rs 120 crore allocation for Adyar Cancer Institute in the state capital are among highlights of the Rs 500-crore worth health schemes announced by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in the Assembly on Tuesday.
Making a <g data-gr-id="13">suo</g> moto 22-point statement in the Assembly, she said as a pilot scheme, the Amma Master Health check-up plan and Amma Women Special Master Health check-up plan for women would be launched, towards which medical equipment will be bought at a cost of Rs 10 crore.
Jayalalithaa said the Union government had accepted her request to accord the status of a Centre of Excellence to the Cancer Institute at Adyar. “I had written to the PM to accord the Centre of Excellence status to Adyar Cancer Institute and the Union government has accepted it. I am happy to announce that the Adyar Cancer Hospital will be strengthened at a cost of Rs 120 crore,” she said.
