Jamia celebrates foundation day

Jamia Millia Islamia celebrated its 92nd Foundation Day on 29 October 2012. The celebrations were followed by flag-hoisting ceremony, by I M Kadri, the chief guest. Kadri is a renowned architect and an alumnus of Jamia Millia Islamia.
The university also received the Guard of Honour by NCC cadets of Jamia and students of the school highlighted the achievements of the year in their report. The highlight of the programme was the song sung by the tiny tots from the Mushir Fatima Nursery School.
On the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Najeeb Jung reminded the teaching community of the great sacrifices with which Jamia was built and urged them to rethink how education can serve the weakest of the weak.
Kadri spoke about numerous anecdotes involving Gandhi, Dr Zakir Husain, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Sarojini Naidu, among others.
