Jaitley discharged from AIIMS, to work from home

Union finance and defence minister Arun Jaitley, who was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for respiratory infection was discharged from hospital on Monday.

‘He’s fine, he has no fever but has been advised to work from home for the next week to ten days. His immunity is obviously low after the infection and he’s susceptible to catch a bug, so he’s been advised to meet people one at a time to protect him from infections such as viral and dengue,’ said a doctor, who was a part of the team treating him but did not want to be named.

He was admitted to AIIMS on 28 September with a stubborn respiratory infection. Jaitley, who underwent a planned metabolic surgery to manage his diabetes on 2 September at Max Super Speciality
Hospital in Saket, was readmitted on 22 September with a post-operative infection.

Instead of being discharged from Max Hospital on Sunday, Jaitley was shifted to a special isolation facility at AIIMS to better manage his infection.

‘The minister has fully recovered from the infection. He is doing fine, but may need to come back for a check-up after a few days, said Dr Amit Gupta, spokesperson at the hospital.
