Jaitley CDR case: One more Delhi cop held

On Friday, the special cell of Delhi police arrested one more cop in connection with the case of illegal obtainment of Arun Jaitley’s call detail records (CDRs). A day before the fresh arrest, the special cell had arrested six persons, including three Delhi policemen.

The accused has been identified as head constable Raj Kumar Singh, who was posted in the office of assistant commissioner of police in Khajoori Khas police station, north-east Delhi. He has been sent to three days police remand by Delhi court.

Three assistant commissioners of police (ACPs), who remained under scanner in the last few months, were summoned on Friday at special cell office in Lodi Colony to join the interrogation. The names of these three ACPs appeared in February this year, when four persons including a Delhi police constable and three private detectives were arrested.

The official email IDs of the ACPs have been used to obtain the CDRs of 52 persons, including top politicians, bureaucrats and corporates. The ACPs were posted at Karkardooma, Samaipur Badali and Shahdara. Sources in special cell told said that they have recommended departmental action against the three, as they have reportedly shared their login IDs and password with their staff officers.

The source added, ‘While interrogating the six arrestees, it came to light that Anurag Singh (arrested), a private detective, was the man behind managing the cops and other private detectives.’ Singh (37) was also arrested in 2005, in connection with former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh’s phone-tapping scandal.

Speaking to Millennium Post, a highly-placed source in Delhi police, requesting anonymity said, ‘So far the name of Singh has appeared as the main conspirator but the main kingpin is still hiding and has not been traced as yet.’
