Jain dedicates Rs 136 cr power projects to public

In a major relief to power consumers in the coming days, Delhi Power Minister Satyendar Jain on Saturday informed that the government has written to power regulator – DERC, to prevent discoms from directly conducting raids and file cases against consumers.

“DERC has been asked to frame a policy so that discoms would only be able to file a case against a consumer if he is found guilty by the Public Grievances Cell of the power department,” said Jain while dedicating transmission projects worth Rs 136 crore.

“The power tariff in the city will come down further if Centre withdraws costly power allocated to Delhi,” he added. The projects dedicated to the public on Saturday are spread over six Assembly Constituencies of Delhi and will benefit a large part of Delhi. The event was organised at the 220KV substation of Delhi Transco Limited, Sector -2 in Dwarka.

“We are committed to provide uninterrupted power supply at a reasonable prices to the public and have taken various initiatives to strengthen the transmission and distribution network.

“These projects are very crucial in terms of strengthening the power transmission system and will help the distribution companies draw sufficient and reliable power from the state grid. It will help in making Delhi a power cut-free area,” said Jain.
